My {Pumpkin} Fix

The day after thanks
Is always an endeavor.
Use your leftovers!

Thanksgiving is such an odd holiday. What other occasion are you physically exhausted from literally not moving all day? For the reason that Thanksgiving is the one day a year when it is socially acceptable for me to stuff my face with four different kinds of potatoes in one sitting, I am going to assume that you are feeling pretty lazy the next day too.

Here are a couple pieces of advice to help you get out of your after-Thanksgiving slump.

One: You need to work out. I'm sorry but unless you have the metabolism of a 12-year-old boy, that extention of your stomach isn't magically going to go away. Try some of these Post-Thanksgiving workouts to help get your bum back into shape.

Two: You need to eat. I know you feel guilty about all the carbs you ate yesterday but let's face it, so does every other American.

Use your leftovers to make something fun! You might as well accept that this isn't going to be your healthiest weekend of the year, so spend it with your family and utilize all of those extra ingredients you now have for more delicious food!

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spiced Frap
Serves 4

1 cup brewed coffee
2 cups extra crushed ice
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 large spoonfulls leftover pumpkin pie filling
2 packets Splenda
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
whipped cream

While playing around with what concoction to make for breakfast this morning, I thought, why not throw some of these leftovers into the blender?

Step one is scooping the filling out of your pumpkin pie. Don't worry, someone in your family will be annoyed by the fact that you deliberately scooped out the filling and left the crust. But by the time the weekend is over they will be so sick of Thanksgiving food it won't matter.

Step two is adding all of the ingredients above into your blender, besides the whipped cream and cinnamon. Taste your creation and make adjustments based on your own personal taste.

Then pour your high-end breakfast drink into a nifty glass. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon. It goes great with my Grandma's Date Nut Bars, but that's a secret recipe even I don't know.

Now, enjoy the rest of your day to sit back, relax, and clean up your kitchen.
